April is a Busy Month

While many people keep the model railroading hobby fires burning year-round, for others the hobby is more of a cold-weather endeavor. Spring and fall are the transition seasons, where trains are put up on the shelf and then taken back down five or six months later. Even the biggest names in the model railroading hobby magazine business optimize publishing schedules to focus on the colder months. But let's not be too quick to forget about the trains. We still have a couple of big family and hobbyist-oriented events in the Memphis area before things start to quiet down.

The Casey Jones Chapter of the Train Collectors Association will hold their spring show this Saturday. This show is for you if you like three-rail trains - the kind many associate with the trains they remember running around a family Christmas tree. This Saturday's show runs from 9 am until 2 pm at St. George's Episcopal Church in Germantown. Admission is just $5 per family for visitors.

Later in the month, on April 27th to be exact, the model railroading groups that participate in this website will hold an open house. This is a great opportunity to see some terrific examples of model railroading by some of the area's finest modelers. The Memphis Model Railroaders Open House will run from 11 am until 4 pm on Saturday, April 27th at the AZO, Inc. facility located at 4445 Malone Rd. in Memphis. This event is free and open to the public.
