A little about us...
Railroading in Memphis has a long history that dates back to the years leading up to the completion of the Memphis and Charleston Railroad in 1857. The railroads helped shape Memphis and surrounding areas and are still a visible part of the community. Today Memphis is one of only three major cities in North America served by five of the seven remaining Class I railroads. It is no wonder that the hobby of model railroading is popular in the area.
Memphis Model Railroaders is not a single organization or club. It is an informal group of several independent model railroading organizations active in the Mid-South. Its primary purpose is to bring attention to these organizations and their activities with the hope of getting more people involved.
Model railroading is an incredibly diverse hobby that makes it fun and exciting for a broad range of people. Memphis Model Railroaders covers various scales and focus areas that provide great ways for people of all ages, interests, and skill levels to get involved. There is no end to the list of ways a person can participate and enjoy this great hobby. Whether your interest is in collecting toy trains from the past or building a scale model of an actual railroad line, our groups are sure to offer something of interest to you.
