Friends of the Morton Museum
Be sure to stop by and visit the table for the Friends of the Morton Museum. They will be on hand selling shirts and prints to help raise funds for the cosmetic restoration of the Frisco 1351 steam engine. Maybe you saw this old steamer many years ago at the Fairgrounds or in more recent times on a siding adjacent to Collierville's Historic Town Square. This engine was built as a Consolidation-type engine (i.e., 2-8-0 wheel arrangement) more than 100 years ago for the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway, "The Frisco." The railroad overhauled and modernized the engine into a Mikado (2-8-2) in 1943. Unfortunately, the destructive effects of weather and time have taken their toll on this old beast and it is in desperate need of a a facelift. The Friends of the Morton Museum organization is trying to raise the needed funds for this project and could really use your support.
