S Gauge Layout

  • S Helper track system (now part of MTH)
  • AC or DC operation
  • DCC locomotive control
A couple of guys are building a 9'x20' S gauge layout. Trains that run on S gauge track are larger than HO but smaller than O. They offer many of the same features of larger trains but in a smaller and arguably more convenient size.

Perhaps the most famous brand associated with S gauge trains is American Flyer, a line of trains offered by the same company that originally produced the Erector Set line of toys - A.C. Gilbert. Today the American Flyer name is owned by Lionel, and many trains and accessories offered in Lionel's larger O scale/gauge line are now available in S. Mike's Train House (MTH), American Models and S Scale America also produce S scale/gauge products.
